My name is Nicole Andrews and I’m the incredibly blessed, proud mama of two wonderful kids and a dog. One boy, Jacob, who is a curious and compassionate ball of joy. One girl, Celina, who is a shy and loveable girl who loves animals. And our dog Cooper, who has brought an unexpected amount of joy to our lives in the last 2 years.
Adopting Cooper 2 years ago was one of the best decisions of my life. At the time, I wasn’t sure about whether or not we could handle another member of the family. Plus, I had never owned a dog before, so I was a little nervous about trying to balance raising two kids while also learning how to be a good dog mommy. When I do things, I try to do them well, so I knew it would be a significant time investment on my end.
Looking back, I can’t imagine what things would be like without Cooper in our lives. It’s hard to overstate how attached we all are to Cooper; in a relatively short time, he has truly become a member of our family. People often say that about their pets, but in our case, it’s entirely accurate. My children, husband, and I are incredibly devoted to Cooper, and we all want what’s best for him.
Over the last two years, I’ve spent a great deal of time educating myself about how to care for Cooper and ensure that he is happy and healthy, as I would for any other member of my family. You might say that I’ve become a bit neurotic in my quest to ensure that Cooper is living his best life, but I think that’s just part of being a good dog mom.
And it’s true – I do take pet parenting very seriously. As a result of chatting with other pet owners, carrying out copious amounts of research, and trying out many of the top-rated products and services for dogs, I’ve discovered several things that every pet parent should know about if you want to make a real difference in your dog’s life.
So I started this blog to share what I learned with you. Honestly, you might already know some of the stuff I write about if you’ve been a pet parent for a while, but I know that I wish that some of this information was more available when I was searching in the early days for advice. With that, I hope you enjoy!
